Our AGM needs you

If you’re a Long Covid Scotland member, we need your help. Please join us online on Tuesday 3 November for our Annual General Meeting (AGM). Your presence is more important than you might realise.

Long Covid Scotland is a volunteer-led, member-led charity. We work to make sure the voices of people affected by Long Covid are heard by the Scottish Government, the NHS, researchers and policymakers.

To keep this work going, we rely on the support and involvement of our members. In a personal video message, Stuart, one of our trustees, explains why this year’s AGM is so important.

Why is it important for you to attend?

“The AGM isn’t just a formality.”

Stuart, Long Covid Scotland Trustee

As a registered Scottish charity, Long Covid Scotland has formal responsibilities to its members and the charity regulator. Our charity is a Scottish Charitable Incorporated Organisation (SCIO). This means that our members have an important role in how the charity is governed, alongside our volunteer trustees.

Our AGM is a key part of this process. We need enough registered members to come along so we can take care of the charity’s formal business. If not enough people attend, we might not be able to complete this business.

How to attend our AGM

When: Tuesday 3 November 2026

Where: Online, so you can attend from home: Online — attend from home

How: Register for the AGM on Eventbrite

Alongside the formal AGM, we’ll also welcome two guest speakers:

  • Professor Chris Ponting, University of Edinburgh, will share an update on genetics research involving ME/CFS and Long Covid.

  • Eilidh Anderson, a doctoral researcher at the University of Glasgow, will introduce her research using body mapping to explore how Long Covid affects people’s bodies and everyday lives.

The AGM is open to everyone in our wider community, but registered charity members should attend for our formal business. Please sign up today. If you’re not sure about your membership or need help attending, email us at longcovidscot@gmail.com.

Not a member yet? We’d love you to join us.

Long Covid Scotland becomes stronger when more people affected by Long Covid join as members and help guide our work. It’s free, and only takes a few moments to do.

You can apply to become a member if you are over 16, live in Scotland and are affected by Long Covid.

You don’t need to have Long Covid yourself. You might be:

  • Someone living with Long Covid.

  • A carer, partner, parent or family member of someone with Long Covid.

  • Someone whose work or professional experience brings them into contact with people affected by Long Covid.

As a member, you can join our community, contribute to our work, and help shape the charity’s future.

If you’re already in our Facebook community, please remember that joining the facebook group doesn’t make you a registered charity member. There’s just a wee bit of extra admin.

Please be there if you can

Long Covid Scotland exists because people affected by this condition need to be heard, believed and represented.

Our charity runs on volunteers, many of whom live with Long Covid themselves. Together, we’ve worked to raise awareness, campaign for better services, and make sure lived experience is included in national discussions.

We want to keep doing this work, and we’d love for you to be part of it.

Stuart ends his message with a simple appeal:

“Your voice matters, your membership matters and right now your presence matters more than ever.”

Please join us on 3 November at 6pm
